Costly Downtime Easily Avoided with Machinery World’s Specialist Engineering Division  22 Aug 2011

Machinery World, is fast becoming the one-stop-shop for all things machinery related and is now offering both on and off site machinery maintenance and reconditioning services.

Machinery is the backbone to any successful dairy-related business. If it falters, quality and production volumes can be severely hindered which in turn can damage partnerships, relationships and ultimately bottom line profits.

A periodic check-up of machinery can provide many years of trouble-free operation, preventing expensive downtime and potential product contamination issues including the consequential possibility of costly product recalls. Additionally it gives manufacturers peace of mind that their products are continually being produced to the highest possible standards, while ensuring that expensive long-term or even irreversible damage is avoided.

Equipped with three vans and a team of highly trained engineers, Machinery World is able to offer and perform comprehensive onsite maintenance checks to ensure that machinery not only runs at its optimum efficiency but also adheres to the ever more stringent health and safety standards.

As well as onsite services which include fault finding, mechanical and electric repairs, refrigeration systems, and periodic servicing, Machinery World also has a professional workshop from which it can offer full machine reconditioning services and stainless steel bead blasting.

Sean Dughan, engineering manager at Machinery World, commented: “Having been in the business for over 20 years I’ve seen firsthand the impact that machine downtime can have on a business. The ice cream industry is all about producing good quality products and meeting the demands of suppliers. Failure to do this can have some fairly serious ramifications. The saying ‘prevention is better than cure’ is particularly pertinent when it comes to maintaining the health of a machine.”

Ice Cream machinery is indeed built to last but to ensure that its lifespan isn’t cut short or incurs unnecessary downtime, periodic maintenance checks are essential.

Sean continued: “Having a proactive approach and taking preventative over reactive measures to machine maintenance is key to maintaining and even improving a plants running efficiency and therefore profit margins. Furthermore, planned maintenance can assist with plants gaining BRC, as well as ISO, accreditation which is a prerequisite to meeting legal obligations and supplying major retailers.”

Machinery World is the exclusive UK and Ireland Authorised Service Centre for Tetra Pak Hoyer, Soren and ROKK as well as being UK sales/service agents for both Cattabriga and Promag artisanal machinery. They also cover the majority of other makes of dairy and ice cream production equipment.
